Bunnahabhain Distillery is set on the northeast coast of Islay and is unusually renowned for its unpeated and lightly peated whiskies. The distillery sources its water from Margadale Spring which is less affected by the peaty landscape than other water sources so lends itself to a cleaner, less smoky Islay dram.
Bunnahabhain 12 was the start of the Bunnahabhain core range and has the perfect balance of sweet fruit, nuts, vanilla and a delicate coastal influence. Double matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, this dram the characteristic nutty and sherry flavours of Bunnahabhain.
Nose: fresh and aromatic, fruity floral with hints of dried fruit.
Palate: light with fruit notes, nutty flavours with a sweetness and slight hints of vanilla and caramel.
Finish: long and lingering, rich, full-bodied and a hint of sea salt.
