Lochlea is an independent family-owned farm/distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. Lochlea launched their inaugural dram in 2022. The Lochlea team distil and mature their whisky at the farm from barley grown there.
This dram is the first release in Lochlea's annual limited-edition Red Wine Cask series which will showcase a different side to their spirit through distinctive cask maturation and flavour.
This Red Wine Cask release is finished in first-fill ex-Grenache casks and bursts with summer berries, strawberry shortcake, and sweet vanilla. The red wine flavour beautifully complements the Lochlea spirit.
Nose: bright fresh pink berries, sweet and floral, some oak and tannins.
Taste: fresh juicy red fruits, particularly berries and cherries, sweet vanilla and almond flavours like a strawberry shortcake.
Finish: finishing with rich oak, cereal, tannins and spiced biscuits.
