Lochlea is an independent family-owned farm/distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. Lochlea launched their inaugural dram in 2022. The Lochlea team distil and mature their whisky at the farm from barley grown there.
Lochlea's seasonal small batch releases showcase the signature Lochlea style in four different ways. As a working farm, each release reflects what is happening at that time of year.
Ploughing Edition (3rd Crop) is the final dram in the final seasonal release from Lochlea distillery and reflects winter on the farm when ploughing the fields commences in preparation for the barley to be sown in Spring.
The spirit is un-peated but ex-Islay barrels are used for the maturation which results in a smoky version of the signature Lochlea whisky. The liquid is one year older than the 2024 Edition.
Nose: Fresh green apple, sweet toffee and comforting notes of signature Lochlea cereal.
Palate: More fresh fruit, giving way to wonderful savoury smoke and malted biscuits.
Finish: Moreish fresh coastal notes of sea salt and a long lingering hint of peat.
