Lochlea is an independent family-owned farm/distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. Lochlea launched their inaugural dram in 2022. The Lochlea team distil and mature their whisky at the farm from barley grown there. One of the benefits of Lochlea’s independent status is their ability to experiment and collaborate with other like-minded brands.

Overtone, one of Glasgow’s best craft breweries, was on the hunt for whisky casks to mature their first-ever double mash stout so the collaboration between these 2 independents commenced. Overtone matured their stout in the ex-casks of Lochlea's core expression, Our Barley: 3 bourbon barrels, 2 STR barriques, and 1 Oloroso sherry butt, after which the barrels were returned to Lochlea.

Five casks were married for this release: 3 stout-seasoned (2 Bourbon and 1 STR), 1 Bourbon barrel and 1 ex-Islay peated barrel. Together they have yielded 1,500 bottles.

Nose: rich, big notes of sweet, stouty beer, light smoke, oaky.
Palate: vanilla, cinder toffee, rich BBQ smoke, creamy.
Finish: oak, warming spice, green oak notes, rye bread and cereals.
