Established early in 1994, Murray McDavid quickly became a leading whisky bottler.
Over the last three decades, the Murray McDavid Team have questioned the normal cask conventions of whisky maturation. Around 75% of a whisky’s flavour will develop from the cask so the team source exceptional casks from the very best vineyards, bodegas and whiskey-makers across Europe and America. Using the very best wood balances the natural character and slowly develops into extraordinary spirit.

Ledaig is renowned for its bold maritime peat character, distilled at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. For this single cask release, Murray McDavid matured the whisky for 11 years in an American oak hogshead before transferring it into 64-litre Oloroso sherry octaves for its final year of maturation. The smaller octave casks intensify the interaction between spirit and oak, adding layers of dried fruit, warming spice and rich sweetness while preserving Ledaig’s distinctive smoky coastal character.
Nose: toffee apple, cigar smoke, cedar wood.
Palate: smoky ginger, brioche, baked orange.
Finish: mellow clove, lingering sweet smoke
