The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
Candlebrae is a waxy Highland Single Malt matured for a decade in quality American oak casks. The name reflects the whisky’s distinctive waxy character, with American oak bringing natural sweetness and a rounded profile of orchard fruit, citrus, cream and gentle spice.
Nose: baked apples, waxy citrus peel and freshly cut grass.
Palate: honey glazed apricots, whipped cream and spiced oak.
Finish: pear drops and spiced candle wax.
