The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
This is part of the Clydebuilt single cask series, specially selected by Laura Davies and matured at Ardgowan Distillery in a Sherry Hogshead which delivers a light, sweet style with notes of fruit and light peat.
Cask #312013 has developed a rich and inviting character, bringing together Linkwood’s fresh, grassy spirit with creamy toffee, ripe berry and sweet butterscotch notes.
Nose: Grassy aromas, alongside light peat.
Palate: Tones of creamy toffee and gooseberry jam.
Finish: More sweet flavours, with a butterscotch quality.
