The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
A bolder expression of the Clydebuilt heavily sherried 10 Year Old, bottled at 57.1% ABV to the traditional British 100 Proof strength. Matured in a combination of Sherry butts and Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso hogsheads sourced from the José y Miguel Martín bodega, it delivers a rich, powerful profile of dark chocolate, cherries, dried fruit and warming spice.
Nose: cinnamon apple pie, cocoa powder and raisins.
Palate: dark chocolate, cherries and grated nutmeg.
Finish: satisfying golden syrup sweetness.
