Rosebank Distillery, often referred to as the 'King of the Lowlands', was established in 1840 in the heart of Falkirk. After closing in 1993, it was rescued and re-opened by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2017. Rosebank’s historic reputation rests on its bright citrus notes, delicate florals and silky texture.
Release 2 of Rosebank’s celebrated Legacy Series builds upon the quiet brilliance of its predecessor. Distilled in 1991, this whisky captures Rosebank’s character during its final operational years before closure, offering a rare glimpse into the distillery’s historic house style.
Triple-distilled in the traditional Rosebank style, the whisky matured for three decades in carefully selected refill casks. The slightly lower bottling strength of 48.1% ensures balance while preserving texture and aromatic lift.
Where Release 1 emphasised softness and confectionary sweetness, Release 2 shows a touch more aromatic brightness and herbal nuance — a natural evolution shaped by vintage and cask selection.
Nose: Fresh and vibrant with citrus tones of lime and lemongrass, layered over coriander seed, clove, soft vanilla and sugared almonds.
Palate: Light yet deeply expressive. Mint and chamomile weave through notes of leather, ripe berries and banana loaf, creating complexity without weight.
Finish: Lingering and refined with sweet peach, gentle oak spice and persistent herbal notes.
