Lochlea is an independent family-owned farm/distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. Lochlea launched their inaugural dram in 2022. The Lochlea team distil and mature their whisky at the farm from barley grown there.
Lochlea's seasonal small batch releases showcase the signature Lochlea style in four different ways. As a working farm, each release reflects what is happening at that time of year.
Harvest Edition (3rd Crop) is the second in the final seasonal release from Lochlea distillery and reflects the time of year on the farm when the golden barley is ready to be harvested for next year's production.
This whisky has been double matured in refill bourbon barrels and port hogsheads, alongside an oloroso sherry butt, offering a different take on the sweet, summery flavour profile associated with the Harvest trilogy. With the spirit another year older, expect rich dessert notes upfront balanced by savoury black pepper on the finish.
Nose: bright red grapes, fresh strawberry jam and clotted cream.
Palate: sweeter notes of baked apple pie and white chocolate.
Finish: beautifully balanced, with savoury notes of cracked black pepper.
