Lochlea is an independent family-owned farm/distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. Lochlea launched their inaugural dram in 2022. The Lochlea team distil and mature their whisky at the farm from barley grown there.
Batch 3 of the annual Cask Strength release offers a bold and distinctive take on the Lochlea spirit using a carefully selected combination of Oloroso Sherry Butts and ex-Islay Peated Casks, creating a whisky that balances richness and depth with a surprising twist of smoke.
Nose: Opens with juicy, ripe red fruits, and savoury BBQ smoke.
Palate: Cherries, ripe berries, and dark molasses are lifted by warming ginger cake, toasted rye, and charred wood smoke.
Finish: Long and complex, with baking spice, salty smoke, and oaky tannins intertwining with delicate floral notes of red roses.
