Emerging from Caol Ila’s secluded spot on Islay’s rugged north:eastern shore, heavily peated malt meets the memory of a full:bodied Tuscan red.
Nose: Inhale peat, honeyed smoked ham and the tang of salt. Red wine fruitiness.
Palate: That soft sweetness , then subsides, chased by more big smoked meat flavours. A saline tinge to close.
Finish: A medium finish. Neither short nor sweet, given the staying power of its savoury bacon notes.
