This incredible bottler, Glaschu Spirits Co. is owned by Paul Jamieson and Julian Mithoff and based in Glasgow, Scotland (Glaschu is Gaelic for Glasgow). The Glaschu guys have backgrounds in aircraft engineering so decided to use that theme for the Glaschu labels - the subject and colour changes with each release but is always in the same art deco style design.
This Glaschu single cask release showcases spirit from Braeval Distillery, one of Speyside’s highest distilleries, located in the remote hills near the Braes of Glenlivet. Traditionally used as a key component in blends, Braeval’s single malt is rarely seen as a standalone release, making independent bottlings like this particularly intriguing.
Selected and bottled by Glaschu Spirits Company, this 11 year old expression captures the distillery’s bright, fruit-forward character while retaining the natural texture of the spirit. Bottled at cask strength, with no chill filtration and natural colour, it offers an honest snapshot of a distillery that seldom appears in single malt form.
Nose: Orchard fruits, honeyed malt and citrus zest with hints of vanilla and soft oak.
Palate: Sweet malt, ripe pear and apple balanced by gentle spice and creamy vanilla.
Finish: Clean and warming with lingering fruit and light oak spice.
