The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
This is part of the Clydebuilt single cask series, specially selected by Laura Davies and matured at Ardgowan Distillery in a Bourbon Hogshead which delivers a sweet honeyed style with notes of heather and popcorn.
Cameronbridge is one of Scotland’s great grain whisky distilleries, and this exceptional single cask was distilled there in 2005 before maturing at Ardgowan Distillery.
With just 272 bottles produced, this is an elegant and indulgent single grain that showcases the silky sweetness and rich, approachable character that well-matured Cameronbridge can deliver. A thick, syrupy texture combines with honeyed sweetness and generous dessert-fruit notes, making this a particularly appealing cask-strength grain whisky.
Nose: Aromas of buttered popcorn.
Palate: A thick, syrupy mouthfeel, with a silky heather honey quality.
Finish: Satisfying, with hints of warm peach cobbler drizzled with cream.
