The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
This is part of the Clydebuilt single cask series, specially selected by Laura Davies and matured at Ardgowan Distillery in a Bourbon Barrel which delivers a nutty vanilla style.
Glen Garioch is a Highland single malt renowned for producing rich and characterful whiskies, with a house style often associated with heather honey and citrus.
Cask #4587 was matured in an ex-bourbon barrel, allowing the rich Glen Garioch spirit to develop layers of sweet, nutty and vanilla-led character. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.2% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring, this is a highly limited release of just 237 bottles.
Nose: Marzipan and brown sugar to the fore.
Palate: Inviting flavours of mixed nuts, vanilla fudge and chewy raisins.
Finish: Long, with a hazelnut praline character.
