The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
Clydebuilt’s 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Matured Single Malt is a richly sherried Speyside whisky selected and matured under the direction of Whisky Distiller Laura Davies. It combines traditional Sherry butts with European oak Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso hogsheads sourced from the José y Miguel Martín bodega, creating a fruit-forward whisky with plenty of dried fruit, nuts and warming spice.
Nose: dried fruits, toasted almonds and oak shavings.
Palate: heather honey, raisins, cinnamon and cloves.
Finish: lingering marzipan and sweet spice.
