This dram is the latest release from the newly revived distillery at Lindores Abbey - 523 years after their first recorded distillation of Scotch Whisky in 1494.
Nectere takes its name from the Latin, 'conectere' - to link, to bind, to connect. Nectere brings together hundreds of years of knowledge in a single glass, and reflects what it delivers: pure nectar.
Nectere showcases Lindores Abbey’s skills of sherry cask maturation, creating a spirit matured exclusively in four styles of sherry cask.
Oloroso casks for dried dark fruit richness, Pedro Ximénez brings sumptuous sweetness, Amontillado adds medium nuttiness, and Palo Cortado gives a delicate nose and rich mouthfeel elegance and refinement. The result is a richly layered dram that balances indulgent sherry influence with the distinctive fruity character of Lindores spirit. Matured using barley grown in the fertile fields surrounding the historic abbey, Nectere continues the distillery’s commitment to provenance and quality.
Nose: Rich aromas of treacle, raisins, red apples, vanilla custard cream and cinnamon spices.
Palate: mellow molasses, sticky dark fruits, raisins covered in chocolate, nutty macaroons, toffee and pecans and pleasant layers of baking spices. Velvety texture on the palate, very well balanced and complex.
Finish: long lasting finish with creamy notes playing with pleasant touches of spices at the back of the palate.
