The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
Clydebuilt is a collection of limited edition whiskies blended and released by Ardgowan Distillery. Coppersmith is the first release of 6 expressions in total and has been masterfully blended by Max McFarlane, formally of Edrington, using only first fill oloroso sherry casks of the highest quality and combines whisky from 4 distilleries from Speyside and Highland region.
Nose: Heather honey, sultanas, with a hint of sweetness and spice.
Palate: Butterscotch, and notes of very dark chocolate, sultanas again.
Finish: Long, lingering notes of dried fruits, walnuts, tobacco and other autumnal aromas.
