The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896, the current distillery filled its first cask in June this year following eight years of development, planning and construction. Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, it is the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.
This is the second release in the Clydebuilt single cask trilogy, specially selected by Laura Davies. Matured in a Pedro Ximénez hogshead, this whisky delivers everything expected from PX in European oak.
Aged at Ardgowan and bottled at 58.5% ABV the cask imparts concentrated sweetness with notes of dried fruits treacle and soft oak.
Colour: Deep amber
Nose: Ripe figs, sticky dates, and rich caramel.
Palate: Velvety toffee, dark chocolate, and a touch of espresso.
Finish: Long, sweet, and luxuriously smooth.
