From the Gaelic, Gleann Aileachaidh, meaning Valley of the Rocks, this independent, Scottish owned and managed whisky company focuses on the important things: making great whisky and enjoying life.

Following in the footsteps of its acclaimed predecessors, most notably Batch 4 which was awarded ‘World’s Best Single Malt’ at the World Whiskies Awards 2021, Batch 8 of The GlenAllachie 10-year-old Cask Strength has arrived.

Carefully crafted by Master Blender Billy Walker, who this year celebrates five decades in the whisky industry, this release is the epitome of the art of wood management. A marriage of whisky from a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry puncheons, along with a small quantity of Virgin Oak and Rioja casks, the resulting liquid is bursting with indulgent notes of tangy orange, rich mocha and sweet spices. Presented at natural cask strength of 57.2% ABV, without chill-filtration and at natural colour to showcase the whisky in its purest form.

Colour: Intensely Rich Mahogany.

Nose: Bursting with mocha, nutmeg and walnut oil, with notes of heather honey, sweet raisins and dried red berries.

Taste: Lashings of cinnamon spice, molasses and honeycomb, followed by ginger and dark chocolate, with hints of nutmeg and fennel on the finish.

A wee gem of a shop

As whisky shops go this is a rare find. Very intimate well stocked and a owner with a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of whisky and cigars. Highly recommend

Thank you for the excellent review, really appreciated. I hope you enjoy the dram and I trust we shall see you again.

It's a strong one.

As with most core glenallachie products, fantastic colouring/hue in the glass.

As the title suggests it's a little stronger and maybe comes across slightly on the nose. To drink, it warms briefly with a little spice that mellows through to almost chocolate/sweet notes and a long finish.

Couple of outings with this one and the bottle is sitting around halfway. Just as drinkable as any of the other whisky room glenallachie offerings.

Thanks for your review and notes James. Glad you enjoyed. See you again soon

Glen allachie cask strength

Arrived promptly, well packaged as usual. Very drinkable undiluted but rather strong . Lovely flavours. A small drop of water also does it no harm. I have another in the post and would recommend to all
