In 2005, Islay fishermen discovered a small bright yellow Ministry of Defence submarine washed up off the coast of Islay. The remotely operated vessel remained on the island until Royal Navy personnel arrived to reclaim it — with the first bottles of the original Yellow Submarine release famously presented to the crew at Bruichladdich pier.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wider Whisky of Mass Distinction series itself began after the distillery was mistakenly flagged by US Military Intelligence as a possible site for weapons of mass destruction production, owing to large quantities of copper being delivered for distillation equipment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis third Yellow Submarine release has been matured for its full 14 years in a combination of 75% first fill bourbon casks and 25% French red wine casks, bringing together Bruichladdich’s elegant unpeated spirit with layers of sweetness, fruit and gentle spice.
