Our shop is on the main street in Gourock, a small town on the River Clyde near Glasgow. Kempock Street is colourful street full of independent shops, and food and drink outlets. Gourock's promenade and outdoor heated pool are a minute’s walk from the shop. Gourock has fabulous river views across to Argyll with lots of wildlife to spot, including seals, dolphins, porpoises and whales. There are panoramic walking routes thoughout Gourock - both flat and hilly. The shops, view, pool and the Whisky Room make Gourock ideal for day trips and longer breaks. Gourock is easy to get to by car, train, ferry, bus and bike. If you need further advice on getting to us, drop us a mail or call the shop! FROM THE GREENOCK CRUISE PORT/OCEAN TERMINAL It’s only a short journey by train or taxi to the Whisky Room. A taxi journey will take 10-15 minutes. Greenock Central train station is a 10 minute’s walk from the Port and the train journey from there to Gourock takes 8 minutes - the shop is a minute’s walk from Gourock train station. More info is available on the Scotrail website. BY TRAIN - END OF THE LINE Gourock's location at the 'end of the line' means that it is easily reached by train directly from Glasgow. The Gourock to Glasgow Central line has 2/3 trains per hour and the journey takes 40-50 minutes. Our shop is a minute’s walk from the train station. More info is available on the Scotrail website. BY BIKE Gourock is on the NCR75 and NCR753 which run from North Lanarkshire to Inverkip - these are part of the National Cycle Network's signed paths and routes for walking, wheeling, cycling and exploring outdoors. The route through Gourock runs through lower Kempock Street. The NCR routes are traffic-free so are suitable for all ages and abilities. More info is available on the Sustrans website. BY CAR Gourock is only 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and has free parking areas. Arriving by car from Glasgow and the East: travel westbound on M8 and then A8, through Port Glasgow and Greenock. Arriving by car from the South Clyde coast (Ayrshire, Largs, Wemyss Bay: travel north on A78 and then A770, through Largs, Wemyss Bay and Inverkip. PARKING There is plenty of parking in Gourock. Free parking discs are available at most local shops. The nearest parking to the Whisky Room is below. Upper and Lower Kempock Street: Monday to Saturday - 1 to 3 hours free on-street parking with a parking disc (check signs for time limits) Lower Kempock Street Car Park: Monday to Friday - use ticket machines to obtain a free ticket for up to 2 hours or a £2 ticket for full day - please note that parking discs are not valid in the car park. BY FERRY FROM ARGYLL AND THE ISLANDS Gourock has two ferry terminals which connect with Argyll: Western Ferries and CalMac. More info is available on their websites. Ferries also arrive in Wemyss Bay, Largs and Ardrossan all of which have road, rail and bus links to Gourock. BY BUS Gourock has excellent bus routes running along the coast from Largs to Glasgow.
